Welcome to my website.

I am a writer of slipstream fiction - the genre that bends the others - specialising in the short form. I have had over 60 stories published, plus several short story collections. And one novel.

This website will give you a comprehensive view of my fiction to date.

New additions to the site will be listed on this home page as and when they happen. For the moment, this is the newest news:

March 2008

My story, co-written with Allen Ashley, titled "Miss Treat", has just been published in Scheherazade #30.

February 2008

It's just been announced that I'll be editing a new magazine for the British Fantasy Society to be called New Horizons. The magazine will debut in June and have a six-monthly schedule. The debut issue will contain work by K.J.Bishop, Allen Ashley, Will McIntosh, and Daniel Bennett, amongst others.

My story, "Shipping Tomorrow Backwards", has just been published in the most recent issue of Zahir.

January 2008

Haven't posted here for a few months as I've not been up to much, apart from being involved in the tortuous performance which is trying to move house. Will hopefully write soon, but meanwhile I've been doing some magazine reviews for The Fix Online.

October 2007

Had a busy few days. As part of the Norwich Fringe Festival I read two of my stories during the Will Giles' garden event, then two days later was interviewed by 40 participants during the Muse Conference online event, and the following day was interviewed on Radio Norfolk about Elastic Press's third BFS award for Best Anthology. And a fun time was had by all!

September 2007

Just received an email from the editor of Zahir that they're taking my story, "Shipping Tomorrow Backwards" for a forthcoming issue. Very pleased about this, as it's a great magazine!

August 2007

My short story, "Kiosk B", has just been published at Fiction Online as part of their free downloadable PDF magazine. This is an excellent paying market for short fiction, and I urge any writers reading this to check them out!

And I've also received my copy of disLOCATIONS, a signed limited edition collection of short stories which features my story "The Glass Football". Lovely looking book.

Plus a very complimentary review of my short fiction collection, Residue, is now online at Infinity Plus.

July 2007

Just got news that my story, "Chasing Waterfalls", has been accepted for publication in a future issue of Midnight Street which I'm very pleased about.

June 2007

Been fairly busy of late and not had a great deal of time for my writing, however I've had an acceptance this week from Postscripts magazine for my story, "Bigger Than The Beetles", which I'm very pleased about. Plus a recent interview covering my writing and publishing can be read online at OhmyNews International. And finally, the cover image for "Dislocations" containing my story, "The Glass Football" is now online at Amazon

March 2007

Good news! Screaming Dreams have accepted "Slow Motion Wars" for publication sometime in 2007. See under the books heading for more information as it comes.

February 2007

My short story, "The Luxury of Sleep", has just been published in issue one of The Literary Bone, a new magazine which is well worth checking out. And also another short story, "The Onion Code", has just appeared in Angles: a collection of East Anglian SF.

Just finished writing two new stories, "Shipping Tomorrow Backwards" and "Chasing Waterfalls ", which I need to edit before releasing into the big wide world.

"Slow Motion Wars", a collection of my collaborative fiction written with Allen Ashley, will no longer be published this year by Bradan Press as they've gone bust, however we are in negotiations with another publisher and I'm hopeful I'll be able to post some news about the result of that soon.

January 2007

The first review of my short story collection, "Residue" can now be read online at The Zone Some very nice things are said about me!

Two new stories written late last year will be published over the next six months. "The Glass Football" will appear in the next anthology from Newcon Press, and "Red Or White" will be published in a collection of shared world alternate Victorian stories (anthology and publisher to be revealed at a later date).

November 2006

My short story collection, "Residue", was published on 20th November 2006, and is now available to purchase in both paperback and hardback from HalfCut Publications, who can be found here

Over at Elastic Press we had a blistering launch of our "Extended Play" anthology, coupled with the launch of "Photocopies of Heaven" by Maurice Suckling. With readings from all the authors and music from Lene Lovich, Tall Poppies, and Ciccone, you were a fool to miss it!

My short story "The Luxury of Sleep" will be forthcoming from new US mag, The Literary Bone.
